Salford boys The Nankeens are set to release the follow up to their brilliant Autonomy EP with new single Scenester and to celebrate they are throwing a launch party at my favourite Manchester venue, The Deaf Institute on Saturday 21st September.
The single release and launch party is in conjunction with local record label and promoters Scruff of the Neck Records and should be an epic night with two great local bands supporting, Skinny Roller and The Relays, get your tickets here and treat yourself to a night of music as it should be heard – live and loud! Look out for a full gig review on ALBL next week.
The single itself sees a change in direction from the melodic, melancholy indie of the previous EP to a heavier more direct sound. The opening riff is a dark and spiky affair that sets the scene for the lyrics to pull no punches, taking aim at those trying to be something their not. The track then gathers pace with a stomping rhythm before launching into a Queens of the Stone Age style desert rock meltdown. This is a side to The Nankeens you won’t have seen before and it will make you sit up and take notice. Scenester will be available on iTunes from the 21st September and most other digital formats shortly after.
